Insider: Goodwill goes GLAM!

Last November, Kelli and I were on vacation in Seattle and had the wonderful opportunity to go to the Goodwill Glitter Sale. Needless to say, it was AH-mazing. We stood in the cold weather for three hours, but it was so worth it. We found so many vintage jewels, bags, shoes, and CLOTHES! And you know how we love anything that sparkles!

This past weekend, Bank of Hawaii sponsored Hawaii's first ever Goodwill goes GLAM! event at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.  I am a sucker for vintage and good deals, and hoped that this would be another awesome experience. I must say that it was a good attempt at such a big undertaking, and hope that as the years progress, that the event and orgainzers just keeps getting better and better.

Some of my favorite finds this year were:

Tommy Hilfiger paisley print shorts for $7.

Ferragamo pumps for a whopping $10! score!

And two new bracelets to add to my arm swag, the rhinestone bracelet for $7 and the silver sequin cuff for $5.

I also scored some brand new vintage dresses from the 80's, complete with shoulder pads! But they are going through reconstruction so I will have to show those off later.

Nom Nom: Side Street Inn-Kapahulu

The west coast wolf decided to come home and play again...and requested to eat some good local food. Particularly loco moco, yet we somehow ended up going to here. Not sure how that worked out, but it was awesome nonetheless.

Side Street Inn on Da Strip has been open for a few years now in the Prudential Building on Kapahulu. Valet parking is available, or if you're lucky, you'll get a stall in the pay-park lot right next door. However, my car was not so lucky because a few birds decided to bomb it really bad. Gross.

Make reservations! And sometimes on really busy nights, you may still even have to wait. We went on a Monday night after work, and EVERY SINGLE TABLE was filled. cray cray.

garlic fries to start

Nom Nom: Asuka Shabu Shabu + Aloha Crepes!

I am a huge shabu shabu fan. And with all these new places popping up in Honolulu, I was ready to try something other than Ichiriki.

Asuka on Waialae Ave, right across of Coffee Talk, and a few doors down from Kaimuki Camera, is a hidden gem. The staff is beyond courteous, and the interior is divine. I do suggest making reservations...but they only take for parties of 4 or more. There are so many items to choose from, and you have the option of either shabu shabu or nabe. The only difference really, is the way you cook your food...one by one or all together, that really is the only factor.

Clean interior and actually a really big space considering how small the shop looks like from the street.

Why hello, Asuka nabe broth. It was a bit on the creamy side..but still good.

side order kim chee!

beef, pork, shrimp, arabiki sausage, asuka meatballs, aburage, gyoza and vegetables.

meatball special

mmmmmm cooking deliciousness!

Rather than trying out Asuka's dessert, we opted to go right next door to Aloha Crepes. Awesome decision.

S'mores crepe! Graham cracker, hersheys chocolate bar, marshmallows and nutella.

and of course we went ALA MODE! bomb!

Travellin': Las Vegas

Every year, my family and I take our trip to...Las Vegas.
After you've been to a destination a handful of times, you think you've seen it all. Yet Las Vegas always has something new going on. Always. New casinos, new hotels, new attractions, new shows.

Here is a glimpse at some of the things we did:

well of course I had to take a pic with this beauty.

My sister and I found the secret pizza spot in the Cosmopolitan.

And she loved it so much she went back for seconds.

Love, love, loooooooove the Cosmo decor.

Inside Crystals.

Eye-catching stairwell

Bellagio atrium

Out and About: Jason Mraz Concert!!!

Jason Mraz is one of my most favorite artists of all time. He came to Hawaii a few years ago, and this year my friend and I were determined to get better seats. And better we did. Second row, baby!

With his new album out, LOVE, he still knows how to make me swoon. He is just as good in concert, if not better, and when he takes the stage with just a mic and his guitar, it really makes me love him more.

oh yes, second row has its benefits...chairs!

Love is a four letter word.

Project: Studded Collar Top

With all the studded collar craze around me, I just had to make one of my own!!!

Using the same studs and rhinestones from our previous studding projects, here is my new fabulous top!

plain black top from TJ Maxx...at a whopping $10!

the final product! collar studded!

Hint: if working with delicate fabrics and studs, be careful! the studs can easily tear the fabric.

YAY!
