I am a huge shabu shabu fan. And with all these new places popping up in Honolulu, I was ready to try something other than Ichiriki.
Asuka on Waialae Ave, right across of Coffee Talk, and a few doors down from Kaimuki Camera, is a hidden gem. The staff is beyond courteous, and the interior is divine. I do suggest making reservations...but they only take for parties of 4 or more. There are so many items to choose from, and you have the option of either shabu shabu or nabe. The only difference really, is the way you cook your food...one by one or all together, that really is the only factor.
Clean interior and actually a really big space considering how small the shop looks like from the street. |
Why hello, Asuka nabe broth. It was a bit on the creamy side..but still good. |

Rather than trying out Asuka's dessert, we opted to go right next door to Aloha Crepes. Awesome decision.
