Having lived in Ghana for a bit of my life I have become very fond of vibrate fabrics, mixed matched pieces and chaos. Going to the local market was fun and challenging because navigating the largest open market in West Africa was met with haggling with my not so perfect attempt at their local language for food, cloth and almost anything you could ever think of. (lion skin, check! dead reptiles, check! dead obruni clothes, check! flowers, check! food, check!)
Little did I know that upon returning to America, the tribal and vibrant fabrics would make their way here. I'm happy whenever I see Fente (although you can get the best kente in Adanwomase in the Ashanti Region) or any fabric that brings me back to Ghana.
