Nom Nom: d.k. Happy Hour

It is quite possible that I have stumbled upon the best happy hour that Hawaii has to offer.  I absolutley love d.k.'s because they have theeee greatest cut of beef (only steakhouse on the island that offers authentic in-house dry aged beef!) but since I can't always afford to ballah out I have to find a way to please my stomach and my wallet.  With $5 appetizers and drink specials, d.k. hits the bulls-eye.

My new favorite drink! Otokoyama, Iichiko, and Umeshu with slices of cucumber!

The spread

Braised Pork Quesadilla

d.k. Steakhouse Sliders with Sweet Potato Fries

Tater Tots!! Soooo yummy, stuffed with jalapenos, bacon & cheddar cheese, topped with parmesan cheese & a drizzle of Garlic Oil.

Calamari Fritto

Apple Cobbler ala Mode!!

Chocolate-Chocolate Decadence Cake

We were quite full after all the delicious food and drinks, but all I kept thinking about was how I wanted to come back the next day for more!  I held back, but I will be back again soon.

Shout out to Nikki and Abby for making the best cocktails and for the yummy desserts!

Project: GLITTER BOMB!!

Ahhh, nothing makes us happier than glitter... so we had the greatest idea ever.  Why not GLITTER BOMB everything and anything we could get our hands on.  If everyone had a little more glitter in their life, the world would be a better place.

Before: Shoes, Mod Podge, and GLITTAH!
 Middle: Only bottom glitter
 Finished: GLITTER BOMBED!!!
Caught in the act of glitter bombing!

not enough glitter bombing in one night, but it was time to call it a day.

Insider: My Make-up Bag

I tend to keep things minimal when it comes to my make-up.  I'm a five step girl. Foundation, brows, blush, mascara and lip shine. (okay, six since I live in Hawaii and it's always sunny.  Can't forget that SPF!)

1. MAC : Studio Fix Powder + Foundation
2. MAC: Powder Blush
3. Benefit: Brows-a-go-go
4. Shu Uemura: Eye Lash Curler
5. C.O. Bigelow: Lip Shine
6. Anastasia: Brow Duality
7. Neutrogena: SPF 70
8. Maybelline: Voluminous Million Lashes
9. Hempz: Herbal Moisturizer

I'm not a huge expert in the make-up department, but I do LOVE the products that I use.  Shu Uemura's eyelash curler is a life changer.  Anastasia has amazing brow products, last time I went to get my eye brows waxed (at Nordstrom, she's also life changing) I got sucked into purchasing $75 worth of eye brow goodies.  C.O. Bigelow has fantastic lip balm; minty, soothing, and glossssy!  MAC provides great coverage, quick and easy.  Not pictured: my bottle of Hempz moisturizer... Hempz is just amaaaazing.

Nom: On Dong Chinese Restaurant

Hanging out with my brother has taken me to all these places that remind me of being in Korea.  He had been talking about korean black noodle the last time that we ate so I was super excited for our lunch.  When we rolled up to this place and I looked at the sign "On Dong Chinese Restaurant" I thought, this is not a Korean Restaurant!! Then we walked in and were greeted with "anyonghaseyo" and I was instantly transported to Korea.  (minus the one table with 3 local boys)  I asked my brother and his friend what was good here and they replied; only three things.  The menu had millions of choices like most Chinese restaurants, but as you looked around at the tables they all had the same dishes. Even the local boys were slurping up the black noodles and the spicy noodles.  So I followed suit, and we ordered: Ja Jang Myun, Sam Sun Jyambon and Gan Poon Chicken.  The food was delicious, spicy, and I kept eating even though I was full because it all tasted soooo good.  It's not fancy inside by any means, but when you cook food this good who cares cause you will leave very satisfied and happy!

we learned how to stud.

after weeks of searching for the perfect studs, spikes and rhinestones, we were finally able to get to work.

and after many hours of punching holes, bending metal, sewing and eating potato chips for sustenance,
here are our completed works.

we hope you enjoy.

Nom Nom: Tonkatsu Ginza Barin

I'm a believer that everything happens for a reason.

My friends and I had plans to eat at Arrancino, but we missed our reservation and were told there was an hour plus.  We were starving and didn't want to wait, so we went hunting for another nearby restaurant.  Funny enough, lala was telling me how she wanted to go to Tonkatsu Ginza and there I was, in front of it.  When they told us their wait time was only 15 minutes; we were sold.  Little did we know that we just stumbled upon tonkastu heaven. (thanks to lala's influence)

This was by far the best tonkatsu I have EVER had.  The pork was flavorful and the panko was fried to perfection.  I had ordered the kurobuta katsu and croquette which came with rice, miso soup, cabbage and a ponzu dipping sauce.  I'm not usually a ponzu fan, but it was so delicious with my katsu that I didn't bother to use the katsu sauce (which they keep on the table).  The restaurant is clean and chic, the atmosphere chill yet bustling (it's a small space and tables/bar is usually filled) and the service was great.  I still dream about my kurobuta kastu and can't wait to go back to tonkatsu heaven.
